Nurofen Period Pain
Period pain, or dysmenorrhoea as it is known medically, is a very common condition - studies suggest that approximately three quarters of young women and a quarter to a half of adult women experience pain and discomfort during their period.

Period pain is usually felt as painful muscle cramps in your lower tummy, which can sometimes spread to your back and thighs. Sometimes the pain comes in intense spasms, while at other times the pain may be dull but more constant. It usually starts when your bleeding begins, and normally lasts for 12-24 hours.

There are a number of over the counter medicines available to treat period pain, including ibuprofen, naproxen and paracetamol. If you prefer not to take tablets, you can use heat packs, either disposable or reuseable, to warm the area to reduce the pain and discomfort.

Gentle exercise such as swimming, walking or cycling may also help to reduce pain, as can massaging your lower abdomen. Relaxing activities such as yoga or pilates can help distract you from feelings of pain and discomfort.
