Orajel Mouth Gel
Orajel Mouth Gel provides effective relief from the pain of mouth ulcers and dentures. It contains benzocaine, a powerful local anaesthetic that relieves pain by numbing the affected area. The gel form gives you better control when applying the product, so you can target pain at the source.
Orajel Mouth Gel provides effective relief from the pain of mouth ulcers and dentures. It contains benzocaine, a powerful local anaesthetic that relieves pain by numbing the affected area. The gel form gives you better control when applying the product, so you can target pain at the source.
Directions
For use in adults and children over 12 years. Do not use on children under 12 years.
- Clean and dry the affected area.
- Apply a thin layer of Orajel Mouth Gel to the areas inside the mouth which are tender or painful.
- Use up to 4 times daily, for no longer than 4 days.
- If tenderness or pain persists, consult your dentist or doctor.
Ingredients
- Active Ingredient: Benzocaine 10% w/w.
- Other Ingredients: Polyethylene Glycol 3350, Chlorothymol, Eugenol, Macrogol 400, Propylene Glygol (E1520), Sorbic Acid (E200), Sodium Saccharin (E954), Colour (E129), Purified Water, Passion Fruit Flavour.
Cautions
- Orajel Mouth Gel contains propylene glycol which can cause skin irritation and sorbic acid which may cause local skin reactions, e.g. dermatitis.
- If you have had an allergic reaction to benzocaine or any of the ingredients in the gel.
- If you have been told by your doctor that you have difficulty converting a component of your blood called methaemoglobin to haemoglobin.
- In children under 12 years.
- If you are taking any antibiotics called sulphonamides, for example co-trimoxazole, as benzocaine may prevent them from working well.
- If you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
- You are taking or have recently taken any other medication, including those obtained without a prescription.
