SMA H.A. Infant Milk

SMA H.A. Infant Milk is specially formulated to reduce the risk of developing allergy to cows' milk proteins for babies with a family history of allergy. It contains 100% whey protein which has been treated in a unique patented process to reduce the likelihood of developing an allergy.

The hypoallergic formula is easy to digest - most infant milks contain long chains of cows' milk proteins, but in SMA H.A. Infant Milk these proteins have been broken up into smaller pieces which reduces the risk of your baby developing an allergic response.

SMA H.A. Infant Milk is nutritionally complete with Omega 3 & 6 LCPs. Although LCPs can be made in the body, infants have a high demand for these nutrients, which is why the formula contains Omega 3 & 6 LCPs at levels recommended by experts.

SMA H.A. Infant Milk is suitable from birth and can be used in combination with breast milk or when only formula-feeding.

Speak to your healthcare professional if you think your baby might be at risk of developing allergy to cows' milk proteins.

Whilst SMA products are made under strict hygienic conditions, they are not sterile. Failure to follow instructions on preparation and storage may make your baby ill.
  • Wash hands well. Sterilise all utensils to manufacturers' instructions.
  • Boil 1 litre of fresh tap water. Allow boiled water to cool for no more than 30 minutes.
  • Measure the required amount of water (see feeding guide on can) into the sterilised bottle, carefully – the water is hot. Do not use artificially softened or repeatedly boiled water.
  • Using the scoop provided in the can, add the correct number of scoops of powder (see feeding guide on can), levelling off each scoop with the back of a clean dry knife. Replace plastic lid on can.
  • Place the sterilised teat and cap on the bottle and shake well. Cool bottle under cold running water until lukewarm. Test temperature by shaking a few drops on to the inside of your wrist.
  • If advance preparation is necessary, consult your healthcare professional.

  • SMA H.A. Infant Milk should not be used if a baby has already been diagnosed with allergy to cows' milk proteins or is suspected of already having an allergy to cows' milk proteins. For more information please contact your healthcare professional.
  • For enteral use only.
  • Ideally a powdered formula feed should be made up as and when you need it. However, sometimes, preparation in advance is necessary, for example, when taking your baby to nursery. If this is the case speak to your healthcare professional for guidance.
  • When reheating a bottle never leave a bottle warming for more than 15 minutes. Warm the feed in a bottle warmer or place in a container of warm water. Don't use a microwave to warm a bottle as it unevenly heats the feed and may burn your baby’s mouth. Shake the bottle before giving it to your baby so there are no hot spots and remember to always test the temperature on your wrist first too. If it feels hot, it’s too hot for your little one.
  • Do not add extra powder or water to make the feeds stronger or weaker and do not press the powder into the scoop. Using too much or too little powder could make your baby ill.
  • Remember to throw away any feeds that have not been used within 2 hours.
  • For older babies, made up milk can be added to food, however never add any food to the milk in your baby's bottle.
