Hedrin Detection Comb

The Hedrin Detection Comb is a fine-toothed head lice detector comb. It can be used to remove nits and dead lice after treatment with Hedrin Lotion.

Directions
  1. Choose a well-lit area, so that you will easily be able to see any nits or lice that are removed using the nit comb.
  2. Hair can be dry or wet (use water or conditioner) when using the detector comb.
  3. Before use comb through the hair with an ordinary comb to get rid of any knots or tangles.
  4. Hair needs to be divided into sections.
  5. Gently insert the detection comb at the roots of a section of hair with the logo facing the head and the comb almost parallel with the scalp so that the rounded ends of its teeth will glide over the scalp without scratching.
  6. Comb gently outwards for the whole length of the hair.
  7. After each stroke wipe the comb with a tissue and examine anything that has been found.
  8. Repeat this process for all of the hair sections paying particular attention to the areas behind the ears, at the back of the neck and under the fringe.
  9. You may find a magnifying glass useful to check that what you have found is a head louse rather than a flake of skin or dirt.
  10. If you are using conditioner the comb may need rinsing during the checking process.
  11. AOnce finsihed, wash the Hedrin Detection Comb with clean soapy water and then rinse thoroughly and dry before storing in a dry place.
  12. Treatment should only be undertaken if live lice are found.
  13. If nits, but no head lice are found after checking the hair, then these are likely to be from an old infection which is no longer current and treatment will not be necessary.
