NiQuitin Fresh Mint 4mg Medicated Chewing Gum

NiQuitin Fresh Mint 4mg Medicated Chewing Gum helps you to stop smoking, whether you want to stop straightaway or reduce the number of cigarettes you smoke, perhaps before stopping completely. It works by replacing some of the nicotine you get from cigarettes (the addictive substance) without the more harmful substances you get from cigarette smoke such as tar, carbon dioxide and other toxins. This is known as Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT).

NiQuitin Fresh Mint 4mg Medicated Chewing Gum reduces your cravings for cigarettes and helps you resist the urge to smoke, as well as relieving some of the unpleasant symptoms that smokers have when they try to give up, such as feeling ill or irritable.

NiQuitin Fresh Mint 4mg Medicated Chewing Gum can also be used in situations where you are unable or unwilling to smoke, such as on aeroplanes or around children.

NiQuitin Fresh Mint 4mg Medicated Chewing Gum should be used by those who smoke their first cigarette less than 30 minutes after waking. If you don't smoke until at least half an hour after waking up then use NiQuitin Fresh Mint 2mg Medicated Chewing Gum.

NiQuitin Fresh Mint 4mg Medicated Chewing Gum is sugar free.

Your chances of stopping smoking will be greatly improved if you also take part in a support programme.
  • Chew a piece of gum when you feel the urge to smoke.
  • Chew slowly until the taste becomes strong (about 1 minute) then stop and rest the gum against your cheek.
  • When the taste fades, chew a few times until the taste gets strong then rest the gum again.
  • Keep chewing like this for about half an hour.
  • When the gum has lost its strong taste you should dispose of carefully.
  • Do not use more than 15 pieces per day.
For full directions, please see Patient Information Leaflet.

  • If you have had allergic reactions that involve swelling of the lips, face and throat (angioedema) or itchy skin rash (urticaria) as using NRT can sometimes trigger this type of reaction.
