Ipakatine Powder

Ipakatine Powder
is a nutraceutical supplement that aids kidney preservation and slows down progression of Chronic Renal Failure (CRF) in cats and dogs.

Ipakatine contains the phosphate binding agents Chitosan and Calcium Carbonate, which lower the absorption of phosphates from the intestines, and can be used to mimic or enhance the effects of a phosphate restricted food. There is also a reduction in the absorption of some waste products that can affect normal kidney function.

Numerous studies have shown the benefits of phosphate reduction in dogs and cats suffering from kidney failure and it is now widely accepted that there is a direct link between the length and quality of life of a cat or dog with kidney failure and the amount of phosphates in their diet.

Directions

1g (1 level scoop) per 5kg body weight twice daily, e.g.:
  • 3-5kg: 1 scoop twice daily.
  • 10kg: 2 scoops twice daily.
  • 15kg: 3 scoops twice daily.
  • 20kg: 4 scoops twice daily.
Give for up to 6 months initially. Administration can be life-long, but a check up is recommended every 6 months.
