SMA Althéra is an extensively hydrolysed (eHF) hypoallergenic infant formula for the dietary management of mild-moderate cows' milk protein allergy and/or multiple food protein allergies. It provides complete nutritional support for babies from birth and can continue being used as a supplementary feed for infants from 6 months up to 3 years.
SMA Althéra contains extensively hydrolysed whey protein, carbohydrate, fat, vitamins, minerals, trace elements and the long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acids (LCPs); Arachidonic acid (ARA) and Docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), as well as lactose to support growth and development.

Directions
For bottle fed infants:
The standard dilution of 13.2% is made by adding 1 level scoop of Althéra (approx 4.4g) to 30ml of water (approx 1 fluid oz.).

- Wash hands before preparation.
- Wash bottle, teat and cap.
- Boil for 5 min. Leave covered until use.
- Boil drinking water for 5 min; allow to cool.
- Pour exact amount of lukewarm water into bottle.
- Add exact number of level scoops for age of baby.
- Shake bottle until powder fully dissolved.
- Close tin tightly after each use and store in a cool dry place. Once opened use within 3 weeks.

Lactose (Milk) , Maltodextrin, Vegetable Oils (Palm, Rapeseed, Coconut, Sunflower), Enzymatically Hydrolysed Whey Protein (Milk) , Minerals (Calcium Glycerophosphate, Magnesium Chloride, Calcium Chloride, Potassium Phosphate, Sodium Phosphate, Calcium Phosphate, Potassium Chloride, Potassium Citrate, Ferrous Sulphate, Zinc Sulphate, Copper Sulphate, Potassium Iodide, Sodium Selenate, Sodium Chloride), Emulsifier (E472c), Vitamins (C, E, Niacin, Pantothenic Acid, B2, A, B1, B6, K1, Folic Acid, D3, B12, Biotin), Crypthecodinium Cohii Oil (DHA), Mortierella Alpina Oil (ARA), Choline Bitartrate, Taurine, L-Histidine, Myo Inositol, L-Carnitine.
Cautions
Breastfeeding is best for babies. Althéra must only be used under strict medical supervision and after full consideration of the feeding options available, including breastfeeding. The advice of a doctor, midwife, health visitor, public health nurse, dietitian or pharmacist on the need for and proper method of use of infant milks and on all matters of infant feeding should be sought. Good maternal nutrition is important for the preparation and maintenance of breastfeeding. Introducing partial bottle-feeding may have a negative effect on breastfeeding and reversing a decision not to breastfeed is difficult. Social and financial implications should be considered when selecting a method of infant feeding. Infant milk should always be prepared and used as directed. Inappropriate foods or feeding methods, or improper use of infant formula, may present a health hazard.
- Althera is a food for special medical purposes and should be used under medical supervision.
- Suitable from birth to 3 years of age.
- For oral/enteral use only.
- Only prepare one bottle at a time.
- Feed immediately and follow the instructions exactly.
- Do not keep unfinished bottle, discard the contents.
- Always hold baby while feeding.
- Leaving baby unattended may cause choking.
