Description
Cavilon Durable Barrier Cream
Cavilon Durable Barrier Cream is an effective barrier against irritation from body fluids such as urine and faeces and prevents skin damage associated with incontinence - it is proven to reduce incontinence dermatitis. It can also be used as a moisturiser for severely dry or chapped skin.
Cavilon Durable Barrier Cream is a hypoallergenic, pH balanced formula that does not contain perfumes or parabens, so is safe for use on injured skin but not broken skin. If the skin is broken, use Cavilon No Sting Barrier Film. It can be used on infants from birth, but not on neonatal skin or to protect against skin stripping on vulnerable skin.
Cavilon Durable Barrier Cream can be used in conjunction with moisture retentive adhesive dressings that promote healing, such as transparent film and hydrocolloids and enables tapes and dressings to stick to the skin. In fact, in some circumstances it may increase adhesion so if you have particularly fragile skin it is best not to use it under tapes and dressings. If you need protection under stoma products, it is best to use Cavilon No Sting Barrier Film as this is a more suitable product.
Cavilon Durable Barrier Cream is a highly concentrated formula that goes a long way and is wash-off resistant so only needs to be applied every 3-4 incontinent episodes/washes and every other day when used as a moisturiser.

Directions
- Skin should be clean and dry prior to application of Cavilon Durable Barrier Cream.
- Apply Cavilon durable barrier cream sparingly (in pea-size amounts) to cover entire affected area. Repeat as necessary.
- If the skin feels oily, too much has been applied. Re-application is recommended at every third episode of incontinence.
- When used to moisturise severely dry skin apply daily or as needed.
