Athlete's Foot Treatment
Athlete's Foot is a very common condition caused by fungi that thrive in the warm, moist areas between the toes and is so infectious that anyone can pick it up, especially people sharing communal changing rooms and showers.
Athlete's Foot symptoms include an itchy rash between your toes, and red, scaly, flaky and dry skin in this area. It is also common to experience an unpleasant 'cheesy' smell.
Athlete's Foot spreads very easily between people and it is even easy to reinfect yourself if the fungi spores remain in your socks or shoes. To help prevent re-infection, spray inside your shoes and socks with fungicidal powder before putting them on. Don't wear the same pair of shoes every day, as this helps reduce the build-up of sweat which provides the moisture on which the fungus thrives. Avoid synthetic footwear and choose cotton socks and leather shoes which allow your feet to breathe. Do not share towels or footwear and avoid walking barefoot in changing rooms. Always dry thoroughly between your toes and keep toenails short as this reduces the number of places fungi can grow.
