Nutramigen PURAMINO
Previously Nutramigen AA - new name, improved formula.
Nutramigen PURAMINO is an amino acid based formula for babies with a severe cow's milk protein allergy or with multiple food allergies who may not tolerate an extensively hydrolysed formula such as Nutramigen LIPIL or who have other conditions requiring an elemental diet.
The protein in Nutramigen PURAMINO has been completely broken down into amino acids, the building blocks of protein. These are not recognised by the immune system, so cannot trigger an allergic reaction unlike the long chain amino acids found in cow's milk and dairy products.
Nutramigen PURAMINO contains hypoallergenic MCT (medium chain triglycerides) oil derived from coconut oil and palm kernel oil. The addition of 33% MCT oil improves the absorption of fat-soluble nutrients and provides a more readily available source of fats and energy for infants with poor digestion of standard fats, whilst still being suitable for those without digestion issues.
Nutramigen PURAMINO also contains LIPIL, a special blend of nutrients that includes DHA, an omega-3 fatty acid that is present in breast milk and contributes to normal visual development.
Nutramigen PURAMINO is nutritionally complete for babies up to 6 months of age and can be used as a part of a mixed diet from 6 months onwards. It is certified halal and kosher.

Directions
- Feeding guide: see tin unless your healthcare professional advises you otherwise.
- If you are breastfeeding, your doctor or dietitian can advise on how to introduce Nutramigen PURAMINO
- Ideally, your baby should switch from their routine formula to Nutramigen PURAMINO as soon as possible after diagnosis
- Try to make sure your baby is hungry and thirsty when trying the formula for the first time
- Babies fed Nutramigen PURAMINO may produce frequent loose stools of a greenish colour - this is quite normal
- Due to its special formulation, Nutramigen PURAMINO smells and tastes differently to routine formula
- It may take a few days for your baby to get used to the taste of Nutramigen PURAMINO, but try to be positive during mealtimes as babies often respond to parents' reactions.
- Remember your baby's sense of taste and smell is not as well developed as yours.

Nutramigen PURAMINO is a food for special medical purposes and must only be used under guidance from a healthcare professional. If you are concerned that your baby may require a specialist formula for cow's milk allergy it is important to discuss this with your doctor.
For your baby's health we advise you to carefully follow the instructions. Proper hygiene, preparation, dilution, use and storage are important when preparing infant feeds. Powdered formulas intended for infants are not sterile and should not be fed to premature infants or infants who might have immune problems unless directed and supervised by your baby's healthcare professional. Always ask your baby's healthcare professional which formula is appropriate for your baby. Always follow the instructions as per the tin.
Failure to follow the instructions could result in severe harm. Once prepared, formula can spoil quickly. Feed immediately after preparation. Do not use prepared formula if it is un-refrigerated for more than a total of 2 hours. After feeding begins use within 1 hour and do not refrigerate feeding bottle. Throw away prepared formula left in the bottle and clean the utensils. Do not freeze prepared formula.
