What is travel sickness?

According to the NHS, travel sickness describes when you feel sick as a result of travelling by boat, car, plane or train.

What causes motion sickness?

The sensation of nausea is caused by repeated movements, such as moving up and down in a boat, in the case of sea sickness. Due to said movements, your inner ear sends different signals to your brain from the ones your eyes are seeing; these confusing messages result in you feeling unwell.

What should I avoid doing on my journey?

To prevent motion sickness, you should avoid looking at moving objects out of the window, as well as avoiding reading or the use of electronic devices. You are also advised not to eat heavy meals, drink alcohol or eat spicy food shortly before, or during, your trip. - Sit in the front of the car, or in the middle of the boat, to reduce motion
